Day 2 (Petang): Candi Borobodur

After having our lunch, we continue our journey to Borobodur Temple, the biggest Buddhist temple in the world or one of the 7 historical places in the world!

Borobodur Temple is the biggest Buddhist temple in the 9th century measuring 123 x 123 meters. It was built by King Kamaratungga from the old Mataram kingdom, the decendant of Syailendra dynasty.

From my knowledge, Mataram is a Hindu kingdom but how come this can become Buddhist temple, I have no idea.. But Hinduism and Buddism are almost the same. And back to my story..

We hired a tourist guide for this Borobodur journey and exploration. Ni yang bertauliah nya ya.. And he can speak fluent English language lagi.Those professional tourist guide ni boleh hire kat pintu masuk ke Borobodur. Bayaran untuk kami and the guide, adalah dalam RM 300.. mahal kau! Tak kisahlah beb.. Namapun jalan kan?

So, boleh dapat air mineral percuma and kena ikat that kain batik kat pinggang. Ni dah sampai 2nd level. The steps are so steep and tinggi! Lepas this level, my inlaws nak turun. Norman pun sekali sebab dia sememangnya bukan suka dengan benda-benda cenggini! Ada ka dia kata that tourist guide tu membebel jer.. Adohai!

Actually, I sorang jer yang berminat pasal sejarah ni. Almaklumlah, my father guru sejarah. For your info,semua lukisan kat dinding ni is a continuation of a story of a king. Camana kisahnya, I tak nak cerita. You all explore sendiri ya. And paling mengagumkan, semua ukiran ni adalah 3 dimensions so you can see the ukiran from 3 angles (front and both sides).

Ni adalah level yang tertinggi iaitu level yang ke 7. Congratulations to us yang berjaya sampai ke puncak! And dalam setiap loceng tu ada patung Buddha. Tapi amat menyedihkan ada yang tidak sempurna sebab zaman penjajah dulu, depa dah angkut segala harta berharga kat sini...

Actually ada cerita di sebalik 7 levels ni. To make it brief, untuk mencapai tahap tertinggi dalam agama Buddha. So at this stage, duniawi bukan lagi kisah..

According to history, semua batu nak buat Borobodur ni datangnya dari Gunung Merapi yang jauhnya beratus-ratus kilometer. I wonder how they carried the heavy stones merentas hutan belantara. And it was left abandoned for centuries until a villager found it dalam hutan tebal. From thereon, the government has preserved it as their heritage.

 

 

Our tourist guide lukis kat tanah rekabentuk Candi Borobodur ni and guess what? It looks like bunga teratai, lambang agama Buddha! Oh ya! This tourist guide dah pergi Nepal, Angkor Wat under UNESCO. Tapi tak pernah ke Malaysia.. 

 

Moh kita pulang.. Yaya dah keletihan and kaki dah sakit pakai kasut.. Kat luar ni ada banyak orang jual souvenirs tapi mahal la. Actually, for me, kalau nak dibandingkan apa yang dijual dengan harga, memang tak setimpal tapi kalau korang rasa nak membeli, silakan.. And they accept RM!!! And satu I respect orang Jogjakarta ni, mereka tak memaksa sangat dan tak mengekor kita suruh beli. And kalau kita nak bagi duit tanpa membeli, they are reluctant to accept. For them, cari rezeki dengan berniaga, bukan meminta simpati...
